Salary: From $86,919 per annum, plus 12% superannuation

Randwick City Council is an innovative and progressive Council committed to serving our vibrant community on the eastern beaches of Sydney. Our Aquatic Services Team in the Recreation Business Services Department is seeking a Senior Lifeguard / Duty Manager to join the team.

Purpose:

Oversee all day to day operations of the Des Renford Leisure Centre, providing effective leadership to all operational staff, a safe environment for all customers and a high standard of customer service, while maintaining a professional quality service to all facility users.

About the role:

• Service & Leadership Focus - Lead the daily operations of a vibrant leisure centre, ensuring exceptional customer experiences across pools, gym, café and crèche, while guiding staff and maintaining the highest safety and compliance standards.
• Safety & Standards Focus - Be the driving force behind a safe, welcoming and well‑run facility; from lifeguarding and first aid to water quality, WHS compliance and incident management. All while keeping service levels high.
• Operations & Improvement Focus - Oversee centre operations, maintain equipment and facilities to top standards, and champion continuous improvements in safety, efficiency and customer service.

About you:

• Operational & Supervisory Expertise - Proven experience in managing and supervising the operations of a leisure or aquatic centre, ensuring smooth day‑to‑day functioning.
• Safety & Compliance Knowledge - Strong understanding of Work Health and Safety (WHS), quality, and environmental standards specific to the leisure industry, supported by required certifications (First Aid, Resuscitation, Pool Lifeguard, Pool Operations).
• Interpersonal & Customer Service Skills - Ability to build productive relationships with staff, stakeholders, and the community, combined with strong communication skills and a commitment to excellent customer service.
