An exciting opportunity for a leadership position in the Broome Family Domestic Violence Hub led by Family Outreach Service. The Senior Advocate role is a victim-survivor's main point of contact and walks alongside women, children and families to provide support, informal counselling, coaching, advocacy, and to help navigate support systems. The Senior Advocate holds a case load, but also leads the Hub's team of Advocates to ensure quality service delivery and outcomes for women and children.
Key responsibilities include:
- Mentoring and providing leadership for the Hub's Advocate team, providing regular individual and group guidance, offering inspiration and support to help the team strengthen their performance, passion, and potential
- Ensure the Advocate team is operating effectively in order to deliver high-quality FDV services and achieve positive client outcomes, including ensuring assessments, case management and referrals are performed appropriately
- In partnership with the Clinical Lead, develop, implement, monitor and continuously improve quality, risk and client management processes in relation to supervision and service delivery
- As part of the Hub's leadership team, assist in the development and implementation of all Hub services and programs
- Be an escalation point for the Advocate team's high-risk cases
- Contribute to the development, review and modification of therapeutic FDV education programs
- Develop and maintain trusted relationships with key internal and external stakeholders to ensure a coordinated systems approach
- Maintain a case load in addition to leading the Hub's team of Advocates to ensure quality service delivery and outcomes for women and children
The person we seek
To be successful in this role you will have the following capabilities:
- Able to support and supervise the Advocate team in preparing high level case notes
- Experience working in the family domestic violence setting
- Skills and capacity to engage with government and non-government stakeholders relevant to the project
- Proficiency in the use of MS Word, Excel, /email, and familiarity with client management systems
- Experience in the successful delivery of funded programs to achieve required evaluated outcomes
- Ensure working practices are culturally sound and ability to communicate effectively in the Kimberley cultural context
- Ability to travel to Derby and Bidgydanga
- Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are strongly encouraged to apply
Qualifications and / or training:
- Tertiary Qualification in the human services field and/or significant industry experience with specialist knowledge relevant to the position
- A current National Police Clearance (prior to commencement)
- A current WA Driver's Licence
- A current Working with Children Check (prior to commencement)
- Ability to undertake all training required for FOS/FDV Hub staff.
Selection Criteria:
- Demonstrated experience and ability to provide leadership and work collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary team, working successfully with Aboriginal staff and clients
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to prepare complex case notes, reports and collate and interpret data
- Proven experience in working with family domestic violence including a sound knowledge of issues and dynamics affecting women and children in FDV
- Proven experience and knowledge in risk assessment and management frameworks in the context of FDV.
- Organisational skills in planning, time management and decision-making
- Ability to communicate effectively in the Kimberley cultural context
What we offer
$111,000 per annum, pro rata (3+ years with possibility of extension), 5 weeks Annual Leave with 17.5% leave loading, SGC superannuation, Not for Profit generous Salary packaging, Anniversary payment after 12 months of employment, additional 7 days leave at Christmas and 2 days Mental Health leave, option for 9-day fortnight, access to Employee Assistance Program (EAP) and study opportunities.
