Australasia's leading advisor and innovator in water, wastewater, and odour management solutions, Aquatec delivers critical infrastructure projects that protect communities and the environment. We're looking for a Commissioning Lead to oversee QA and commissioning activities, ensuring our systems are tested, proven and handed over to the highest standards for a 3 month period.
With over 30 years of local and international experience, we design, build, and deliver end-to-end solutions across a wide range of environmental sewerage and water infrastructure systems. Our projects span large-scale developments, councils, water authorities, developers, and a strong network of retail and channel partners.
At Aquatec, we're passionate about collaboration, innovation, and excellence. Our people are at the heart of our success, and we're proud to offer a culture that fosters both professional and personal growth.
We partner with government, business, and residential clients to tackle the water challenges our communities face — today and into the future. As a recognised leader in water infrastructure, we're committed to delivering long-term, sustainable solutions that improve both infrastructure and the quality of life for communities everywhere.
Join us and be part of a team that's reshaping the future of the water industry.
The Role
As a Commissioning Lead, you will play a critical role in bringing Aquatec's water and wastewater projects to life. You'll plan, coordinate and execute all commissioning and quality assurance activities, ensuring works are completed to specification and handed over smoothly to our clients. From validating QA records to overseeing pre-commissioning, live testing and process proving, you'll be at the forefront of project delivery, safeguarding compliance and minimising risk.
This role suits a technically minded professional who thrives in complex project environments. You'll bring a structured approach, strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple stakeholders under pressure. In return, you'll gain exposure to major infrastructure projects and join a team driven by collaboration, innovation, and excellence.
Key responsibilities include, but aren't limited to:
- Develop, implement and maintain detailed commissioning plans aligned to project schedules.
- Manage pre-commissioning and commissioning activities across mechanical, electrical and SCADA systems, including energisation and functional testing.
- Collate, review and validate QA records (ITPs, FAT/SAT results, test sheets) prior to commissioning, ensuring compliance with specifications.
- Coordinate inspections, witness testing and client approvals, facilitating smooth and transparent handovers.
- Lead the preparation of commissioning reports and O&M documentation, including as-builts and red-line mark-ups.
- Collaborate with project teams, subcontractors, and client representatives to resolve technical, quality or sequencing issues.
About You
You are a commissioning and QA professional with proven experience delivering quality outcomes on infrastructure projects. With a background in D&C environments, you are comfortable managing documentation, testing and stakeholder expectations under tight deadlines. Your communication skills, technical knowledge and focus on compliance ensure you can deliver projects safely, effectively and to the highest standard.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- 5+ years' commissioning and QA experience in infrastructure D&C projects (pump stations, odour control, or chemical dosing systems highly regarded).
- Demonstrated ability to manage ITPs, QA records and pre-commissioning processes through to handover.
- Strong knowledge of systems integration, testing and commissioning methodology.
- Tertiary engineering qualifications (electrical or chemical) highly regarded, plus a Construction White Card and driver's licence.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement, communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to coordinate across multiple disciplines.
- A detail-focused, organised and collaborative approach, balancing technical requirements with client expectations.
At Aquatec, you'll be part of a collaborative and high-performing team delivering critical water and wastewater infrastructure. This role offers the opportunity to contribute directly to project success by driving quality, compliance and risk-managed commissioning outcomes. If you're ready to apply your technical expertise in a role that values professionalism and impact, apply today with your resume and cover letter and join a team that's reshaping the future of water infrastructure delivery.
