Mental Health & Disability Support Workers

Our House Support is seeking experienced, values-driven Mental Health and Disability Support Workers to join our Supported Independent Living (SIL) services across Newcastle and Lake Macquarie.

This is an opportunity to deliver high-quality, person-centred support that enables people with disability to live safely, independently, and with dignity in their home and community.


About the Role

As a SIL Support Worker, you will support participants with daily living, community participation, and capacity-building, with a strong focus on safety, professionalism, and quality documentation.

This role is suited to individuals with demonstrated experience supporting participants with complex needs, including mental health, and implementing Positive Behaviour Support Plans (BSPs).


Pay and Conditions
  • Pay rate: SCHADS Award, Level 2.1 (plus applicable penalties and allowances)
  • Sleepover shifts: Sleepovers are required as part of this role. Please do not apply if you are not willing to complete sleepover shifts.

Key Responsibilities

You will be responsible for:

  • Delivering consistent, person-centred supports aligned to individual goals, routines, and support plans
  • Implementing BSP strategies and documenting supports accurately and professionally
  • Supporting emotional regulation, wellbeing, and skill development using agreed approaches
  • Assisting with activities of daily living, household routines, meal preparation, and maintaining a safe home environment
  • Supporting community access and meaningful participation, as rostered
  • Completing timely and accurate progress notes, shift records, and required documentation using FlowLogic
  • Identifying risks, responding appropriately to incidents, and escalating concerns in line with organisational policies and procedures
  • Working collaboratively with Team Leaders, allied health professionals, behaviour practitioners, and relevant stakeholders
  • Maintaining professional boundaries, confidentiality, and respectful communication at all times

Essential Requirements

Applicants must have:

  • Current, paid NDIS Worker Screening Check (NDISWSC)
  • Current, paid Working With Children Check (WWCC)
  • Current C-Class driver's licence with Comprehensive and CTP insurance
  • Demonstrated experience implementing Positive Behaviour Support Plans (BSPs)
  • Experience supporting people with mental health and complex support needs
  • Proven experience in Supported Independent Living (SIL) environments
  • Strong written communication skills and a commitment to high-quality documentation
  • A reliable, professional approach and a genuine commitment to participant safety and outcomes

Desired Experience (Highly Regarded)
  • Experience using FlowLogic NDIS software (or similar NDIS documentation/CRM platforms)
  • Experience supporting participants in environments requiring consistent routines and structured support
  • Strong understanding of participant safeguarding, duty of care, and best-practice person-centred support
