The Team:
The Office of the Chief Nurse and Midwifery Officer (OCNMO) is a small, high performing, outcomes focussed team. We support the advancement of the nursing and midwifery professions to enable the delivery of high-quality healthcare to the Tasmanian community.
The OCNMO provides strategic leadership and professional practice advice on a diverse range of issues relating to the nursing and midwifery professions. Our priorities focus on, but are not limited to, strategic planning, policy, workforce, research, education and training locally, nationally and internationally.
The Role:
Under the broad direction of the Chief Nurse and Midwifery Officer (CNMO), the Assistant Director of Nursing and/or Midwifery will:
• provide senior leadership and strategic policy development for nursing and/or midwifery professional practice across the Agency.
• assist the CNMO in the budget and resource management of the Office of the Chief Nurse and Midwifery Officer.
• build and maintain productive networks with internal and external stakeholders to improve and enhance nursing and/or midwifery policy and practice state-wide.
A key focus of the role will be leading the strategic midwifery policy and professional practice portfolio.
You will need:
- Extensive knowledge and experience in the development and implementation of nursing and/or midwifery policy/standards to support key strategic priorities, workforce development and professional practice.
- Broad and demonstrated understanding of the strategic issues relating to the current healthcare system and knowledge of national and international trends relating to nursing and/or midwifery workforce and service delivery.
- Demonstrated leadership ability to develop and maintain productive networks with internal and external stakeholders, and to support effective teamwork within the unit.

Details of appointment:
Permanent, part time, day worker position, working up to 64 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.
*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.
Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.
Salary: $142,632 per annum (Pro rata). Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
- Salary range is in accordance withNurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023.
In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:
- Post Graduate Allowance of up to 10% based on qualification type

Eligibility:
Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria:
- Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse
Applicants should note the following criteria are desirable:
- current Driver's licence
- Relevant post-graduate qualification
