Based in Townsville, this senior operational role offers the chance to lead transformative, future-focused work at the heart of Queensland's energy and economic transition. As Director, Zones and Projects, you'll play a pivotal role in delivering the Queensland Critical Minerals Strategy and the broader work of Critical Minerals Queensland. Your leadership will directly support the sustainable growth of the critical minerals sector by shaping strategic place-based approaches that enable co-located mining, processing and manufacturing opportunities across Queensland's regions.
A typical day in this role could see you leading cross-government coordination of new project proposals, meeting with industry proponents to explore zone development opportunities, supporting mining project proponents to bring their projects to operation. and overseeing infrastructure feasibility studies that inform government investment. You'll guide a small, high performing team and represent the department at high-level forums, ensuring Queensland's interests are promoted and protected on the national and international stage.
You'll manage complex, multi-stakeholder case management, provide authoritative advice to senior leaders, and influence how infrastructure and regulatory pathways are aligned to support new investment. You'll use your analytical and strategic thinking skills to assess proposals and interpret research, while overseeing contract management and scoping of specialist work related to infrastructure, land use and baseline assessments.
