About the role:
The Senior Platform Engineer plays a critical role in designing, implementing, and maintaining secure, scalable cloud infrastructure across AWS and Azure to support diverse business applications.

This role ensures system availability, performance, and compliance by managing permissions, policies, monitoring tools, and proactively addressing cost, security, and operational risks.

This role also leads disaster recovery planning and collaborates with cross-functional teams to optimise and integrate the cloud environment.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Act as a Senior Engineer within the Cloud & Infrastructure Operations group to deliver effective IT outcomes to business units across the Origin enterprise.
• Deliver Cloud based technical projects hosted in both Azure and AWS. The individual is responsible for working through all stages of the delivery lifecycle including design, cost analysis, build and ongoing support.
• Introduction, implementation and improvement of automation tools, principles, and processes. Engineer solutions, frameworks, and the supporting platforms to provide the optimal experience for internal and external consumers.
• Support and facilitate migration of applications and infrastructure to a cloud-based environment. Refactor and uplift application architecture as needed to use appropriate cloud native services
• Providing 3rd level support for Cloud related tasks/issues
• Participate in an after-hours on call support roster
• Be a key member of the cross-functional delivery team and working effectively with BAs, Iteration Managers, Developers, Security, UX, Product Owners

Skills & Requirements

• Strong expertise in AWS Kubernetes (EC2, S3, Lambda, CloudFront, CloudWatch, Route53, ECS, RDS, DynamoDB) and experience with Azure-hosted applications and cloud migrations.
• Proficient in containerisation technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes, and ECS.
• Solid experience with Unix/Linux systems, including configuration, security, patching, and maintenance.
• Skilled in Python programming with object-oriented design and dependency management.
• Familiar with CI/CD pipelines and tools such as GitHub Actions and Jenkins.
• Knowledge of event monitoring, self-healing systems, and related modern tooling.
• Strong documentation, communication, and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across distributed teams and maintain a proactive, solutions-focused mindset.
