About the Role

As a
Lead Structural Engineer
at Ricaya, you will:

  • Lead structural design and delivery across residential and commercial projects of varying scale and complexity.
  • Oversee project planning, coordination, and quality assurance to ensure every project is delivered on time and to a high standard.
  • Collaborate closely with architects, builders, and consultants to deliver practical, buildable, and innovative solutions.
  • Mentor and support junior engineers while guiding our drafting team to develop accurate, well-coordinated documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with Australian Standards, codes, and industry best practices.
  • Play a key role in business development—building relationships, contributing to proposals, and helping grow Ricaya's project pipeline.
  • Drive continuous improvement across our systems, workflows, and technical standards.

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in Structural Engineering (or equivalent recognised in Australia).
  • 6+ years of structural engineering experience in Australia
    , with a strong foundation in residential and commercial projects.
  • Strong technical expertise in concrete and steel systems, with exposure to seismic design considered a plus.
  • Proficiency with industry software such as
    RAM Concept, ETABS, SpaceGass
    , etc.
  • Chartered Professional Engineer (
    CPEng
    ) status, or actively working toward chartership.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage projects, lead technical teams, and deliver high-quality engineering outcomes.
  • Strong commercial awareness, risk management capability, and sound engineering judgement.
  • A passion for mentoring and fostering a collaborative, high-performance team culture.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
  • Bonus:
    Experience in business development or an existing network that can help grow our client base.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and analyse a wide range of building structures.
  • Prepare and review drawings, documentation, models, and engineering reports.
  • Work closely with our team to develop buildable, practical engineering solutions.
  • Coordinate with architects, clients, and consultants throughout the design lifecycle.
  • Attend site inspections and project meetings when required.
  • Provide technical leadership, support, and guidance across the team.
