About the role
The Infrastructure Design Engineer will support the delivery of civil infrastructure projects by undertaking investigations, surveys, designs, and specifications; preparing design plans, cost estimates, and material lists; assisting in the collection and assessment of asset data; and providing site supervision of contracted works as required.
Key Accountabilities of the role not limited to:
- Develop and deliver Council's Accessibility Program, including assessments and improvements to footpaths, pram ramps, and bus stops.
- Use VendorPanel to manage procurement and engage contractors in line with Council policies.
- Prepare and respond to correspondence, reports, surveys, and enquiries, both written and over the phone.
- Investigate engineering and infrastructure-related issues, and provide recommendations and reports to support decision-making.
- Prepare cost estimates for civil works projects.
- Engage and manage consultants and contractors, ensuring compliance with Council's Procurement Guidelines.
- Liaise with the community and internal teams regarding civil infrastructure matters and service enquiries.
- Collaborate with divisional staff to foster a motivated, team-oriented environment.
- Promote a positive image of Council through professional, customer-focused service delivery.
- Support workplace improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities for better processes, policies, and operations.
- Perform other duties as required, aligned with your skills and the needs of the team.
About the person
To be successful in this role, you will need the following knowledge, skills and experience:
Essential:
- Degree or tertiary qualifications in Civil Engineering (or a related field), along with extensive experience in a similar role
- Proficiency in design and drafting software, such as CivilCAD and AutoCAD
- Hands-on experience using land surveying equipment
- Competent in using Microsoft Project, Word, Excel, Outlook, and relevant database applications
- Possession of a valid Class C Driver's Licence
Desirable:
- Experience working in Local Government or within an organisation of similar scale and complexity
- Proven experience in cost estimation for civil or infrastructure works
- Experience in supervising contractors and overseeing contracted works
- Familiarity with the TechnologyOne Enterprise Suite, particularly modules such as Property & Rating, Works & Assets, Strategic Asset Management, and Financials
