About the role
Step into a rewarding role as a Nursing Assistant where you will bring excellent customer-facing skills and a genuine passion to deliver an exceptional service to our donors.
We are seeking Nursing Assistant to join the West Victoria Donor Centre team, with fantastic customer-facing experience and a genuine passion for delivering exceptional service to our donors.
You will play a key role in supporting our donors through their donation process. Full training is provided so, along with the above, all you need is the curiosity and motivation to learn the process of collecting blood and biological product.
A day in the Centre could see you:
Greet and interview potential donors to understand their eligibility and suitability to donate Create a donor experience they'll love and want to come back Complete routine blood pressure and haemoglobin tests Set up machines and collections equipment Insert and remove needles safely to collect whole blood, plasma, and platelets Monitor donors post-donation and assist them with rebooking their next donation Work collaboratively to achieve collection targetsNo prior experience in blood collection is needed, our paid and flexible self-paced training program has a balance between on-the-job practice, and online class schedules to ensure that you are well supported.
The role will require working at our static Donor centre and also occasionally at the Donor Mobile unit which will include regional travel to locations such as Swan Hill, Echuca, Seymour, Maryborough, Hamilton, Horsham, Ararat, Colac and Torquay. A Lifeblood vehicle will be provided for travel purposes to be collected from our Ballarat Donor Centre. While working as part of the Mobile Unit team additional allowances up to $113 per over night stay are applicable as per our enterprise agreement.
Besides having a real passion to deliver an exceptional donor experience, you'll need to be able to:
Be comfortable with needles and blood/biological materials Occasionally lift between 9-22.7kgs Support and foster a fantastic team culture Frequently stand, walk and bend to set up and pack down machines and blood products Be flexible to work varied shifts on a fortnightly rotating roster from Monday to Friday, including occasional Saturdays and afternoon shiftsBenefits and Wellbeing
