About the position
We are looking for an energetic and experienced Front of House Attendant to oversee the front of house team, delivering exceptional service in a fast-paced, welcoming environment. You will be the face of our front of house, ensuring smooth day-to-day operations, motivating staff, and creating a top-tier guest experience. If you thrive on customer interaction, have a keen eye for detail, and love crafting a warm and efficient dining atmosphere, we'd love to hear from you
What will you do?
Examples of what you will be doing include:
- Oversee all aspect of daily front of house and café operations, including opening and closing procedures, and inventory management.
- Coordinate front of house and café staff to ensure cleaning schedules are completed daily and weekly.
- Delegating tasks to staff and ensuring daily completion of the café to-do list.
- Confident operation of tills and back-office servers.
- Liaise with the Venue Manager regarding operations and venue bookings.
- Roster café and front of house staff.
- Handle day-to-day adjustments for unavailability of staff.
- Demonstrated ability to interact with university students and staff in a way that fosters a positive Avondale experience.
- Quality control through maintaining high standards of food quality, presentation, and cleanliness throughout the café and buffet.
Essential criteria
- Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to inspire and motivate a diverse team.
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in basic computer skills, including point-of-sale systems and Microsoft Office applications.
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices.
- Understand and support equal opportunity principles.

- Flexibility to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of food safety protocols and procedures
- Have completed the NSW Food Safety Supervisors certificate
Desirable criteria
- Trained and Qualified Barista, willing and capable of working in all Front of House roles and positions
