About Port Pirie Regional Health Service

Port Pirie Regional Health Service is a 52-bed acute facility delivering a wide range of services including:

• Emergency
• Peri-operative
• Renal Dialysis

• Outpatient Services
• Acute Medical & Surgical Care

The service also includes Hammill House Residential Aged Care, co-located onsite.

With more than 15,000 Emergency Department presentations each year, PPRHS is supported by onsite medical officers, SA Pharmacy, SA Pathology, SA Dental Service and SA Medical Imaging.

Acute Medical / Palliative Care Unit (Ward A)

A dynamic unit caring for patients across the lifespan, including acute medical, paediatric, mental health, and palliative care presentations.
Opportunities exist to develop skills in cardiac monitoring, telemetry, ALS/MER response, mental health, and end-of-life care.

Surgical/ Delivery Suite (Ward C)

A combined surgical and maternity unit providing care for post-operative patients as well as postnatal women and newborns. Surgical specialties include orthopaedic, ENT, urology, general surgery, endoscopy and dental.

Renal Dialysis Unit

A satellite service of the Central Northern Adelaide Renal & Transplantation Service. A 4-chair unit providing high-quality haemodialysis to the Mid North region.

Emergency Department

A fast-paced environment with large volumes of adult and paediatric presentations. PPRHS ED is a Code Stroke Thrombolysis Centre with 24/7 CT access.

Nurse Led Ambulatory Service (NLAS)

An innovative program focusing on hospital avoidance and community-based clinical care. Works closely with ED, GPs, specialists, and tertiary services.

Vacancy:

• RN – Permanent P/T, 0.53 FTE (20 hrs/wk)

Perioperative Services

Two operating theatres providing services five days per week plus on-call.

Vacancies:

• RN – Temporary P/T, 0.63 FTE (24 hrs/wk until 30/6/2027)

Chemotherapy Unit

A 4-chair unit delivering medium-complexity chemotherapy five days per week.
