In this important role you will design and build the future workforce. You'll create blueprints for skill development, construct learning pathways, and constantly reimagine what's possible. You are always planning the next iteration and building capacity for tomorrow.

Executive Director, Training and Workforce Innovation
— someone who can shape, lead, and deliver innovative workforce solutions for the mining and automotive sectors.

About Us

The Mining and Automotive Skills Alliance (AUSMASA) is Australia's Jobs and Skills Council for the mining and automotive industries. We bring together industry, governments, educators, and the workforce to design capability solutions that meet today's needs and anticipate tomorrow's challenges.

We are moving beyond compliance-driven training development into a true sector-wide capability partner — driving reform, innovation, and inclusion across the workforce ecosystem.

The Opportunity

In this Executive role, you will:

  • Co-design scalable workforce pathways to enable upskilling, reskilling, and mobility, with a focus on future technologies such as electrification, digitalisation, and advanced manufacturing.
  • Partner with industry, unions, RTOs, and government to deliver VET reform initiatives that drive quality, responsiveness, and innovation.
  • Oversee Technical Advisory Groups and ensure products are informed by strong industry insight and lived experience.
  • Collaborate across AUSMASA to ensure capability solutions are evidence-based, inclusive, and designed for impact.

About you

You are a purpose-driven, visionary leader with:

  • Extensive experience in vocational education and training, higher education, workforce development, or skills policy at a senior level.
  • Deep VET sector expertise and a track record in training product development or qualifications/systems reform.
  • Strategic insight into workforce development, policy, and sector-wide reform.
  • Strong capability in stakeholder engagement, facilitation, and co-design.
  • A track record in designing or delivering scalable workforce programs and pathways.
  • Proven ability to lead high-performing teams in complex, regulated environments.
