Architectural Intern
About Us:
Ballast Point is the leading architecture, planning, and construction practice in the Inner West, and we're now in our tenth year. We handle everything from concept design through planning to construction, and we're constantly refining our offerings - whether it's consultancy services or collaborations with local real estate professionals. Our work is predominantly focused on high-quality single residential dwellings in heritage conservation areas in the Inner West, though our projects span a variety of locations and types across Sydney.
We are both a registered architectural practice and a licensed building company, with Class 2 building and design practitioner accreditation. This offers our team exposure to a broad range of experiences across design and construction, all within a fully integrated practice.
Our close-knit, family-friendly (and dog-friendly) team is in a period of rapid growth, and we need an experienced architectural graduate or designer to join our architecture team and work in close collaboration with our construction team and external consultants.
About the Role:
We recently hired an experienced architectural graduate but we found a lot of people came back to us and said that they were finding it hard to get their foot in the door. To get the first break in architecture. We created a role to make this happen but we're going to be upfront; it's not going to be glamourous. We need admin support
You'll work closely with both the architecture and construction teams to support senior staff.
This is a full-time, in-office role based in Balmain.
Ballast Point is looking for a motivated and organised intern or assistant to support the day-to-day operations of our architecture and construction studio. You'll be working closely with the team to keep things running smoothly — from refreshing meeting rooms to managing uniforms, setting up software, and organising our materials library.
This is a great entry point into a dynamic design-led practice for someone who enjoys being hands-on, proactive, and part of a fast-moving team.

About You:
You'll thrive in this role if you're proactive, detail-oriented, and motivated to deliver excellent outcomes for our team and our clients. You are a team player with a strong respect for systems, but you're also confident in identifying opportunities for improvement.
We're looking for someone with:
- A friendly, humble, and self-driven attitude with excellent communication skills to get along well with the team, clients and consultants

- Friendly and professional — you'll be a go-to helper in the studio
- Happy to help with physical tidying, errands, and light admin
- Curious about architecture, design, or the construction world (but no experience necessary)
What's on Offer:
- With limited or no experience in the field - this is an opportunity to get your foot in the door. Work alongside a collaborative, motivated, and supportive team reimagining how design and construction are delivered
- Mentorship under two experienced registered architects and 2 Licensed Builders
- A head office in the heart of Balmain with proximity to good coffee (and the occasional beer)
