An exciting opportunity for a Senior Scientist in Biochemistry within our dynamic laboratory based in Toowoomba.  In this pivotal role you will undertake duties across the Chemical Pathology department applying high level scientific knowledge, skills, experience and leadership requiring independent decision making and judgement leading to the provision of pathology results and high-level advice to client groups.

To be successful you will possess a high level of clinical interpretative skills and be a resource within the Chemical Pathology, taking a lead role within the department, including staff training and education, quality monitoring and improvement and advanced instrumentation trouble shooting.

Key competencies (role specific criteria):

You will be assessed on your ability to demonstrate the following:

  • Demonstrated high level of knowledge and skill in the performance of Chemical Pathology investigations in a clinical pathology laboratory.
  • Demonstrated clinical leadership ability and contribution to the professional development of others.
  • Ability to lead process improvement and client liaison activities.
  • Understanding of laboratory quality systems and the requirements of NATA accreditation and ISO certification.
  • Well-developed interpersonal, written and oral communication skills including report preparation, the ability to negotiate, influence others and   work collaboratively with people to make decisions.
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability and proven success in contributing to building and sustaining continual process improvement culture within a large and diverse team.
