Who We Are
The Griffith Community Mental Health Drug and Alcohol team is the second largest of six Community Mental Health Drug and Alcohol teams across Murrumbidgee LHD. The Community Mental Health Drug and Alcohol team has approximately 15 multidisciplinary clinicians and a range of support staff, who provide Mental Health Alcohol and Other Drug services, across the life span from a site in Yambil Street.

We work closely with MyStep and other community organisations to ensure people receive the right care for their needs. At a district level we have access to clinical leaders for Mental Health, Alcohol and Other Drug and other specialty services such as Aboriginal Mental Health, eating disorders and Perinatal Infant Mental Health.

What You'll Be Doing
The Mental Health Support Worker (MHSW) works within the Community Mental Health Team to support the team in providing mental health and social care to and for people experiencing mental illness and or drug and alcohol issues.

In this role, you will provide essential behind-the-scenes support to the Community Mental Health team. While you won't be delivering clinical care or treatment, your contribution will help ensure the team operates smoothly and consumers are well-supported in accessing services.

Your Responsibilities Will Include

  • Making phone calls to consumers, doctors, and other services to gather or relay information
  • Coordinating and setting up psychiatry and other health-related appointments
  • Assisting consumers to attend appointments, including transport support or reminders
  • Delivering food hampers and other practical supports
  • Providing general administrative support to the team
  • Participating in service support activities that enhance team operations

Criteria
Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:

  • Relevant qualification in Health and/or Social Care or working towards same
  • NSW Working with Children Check
  • National Police Check
  • Compliance with Vaccination Category A
  • Class C Driving License
