About the role

As a member of the City of Canada Bay Libraries team, this role is key to designing engaging and inclusive programs, developing collections tailored to young audiences, and building community partnerships that support learning and literacy for children from birth through the end of primary school.

Within the area of responsibility, this role will:

  • Develop and deliver a variety of socially inclusive library services and programs that promote early literacy and foster reading engagement among parents/carers and children up to Year Six.
  • Contribute to the development and management of collections for children and parents/carers, ensuring services remain relevant and responsive to community needs.
  • Actively promote children's library services within the community to increase awareness and participation.
  • Build and nurture partnerships with internal teams and community stakeholders to enhance engagement and access to children's programs and services.
  • Evaluate programs and events to drive continuous improvement and support the achievement of strategic objectives.

About the person

The successful candidate should have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in library and information studies and eligible for professional membership with the Australian Library and Information Association
  • Experience working with children and their parents/carers in libraries, education, or community services
  • Proven ability to develop and deliver programs for children between 0-12 years of age
  • Demonstrated storytelling and creative display skills
  • Knowledge and skill in promoting and evaluating children's library programs
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • An enthusiastic interest in literature for young people and a passion for promoting literacy
  • Experience leading diverse teams
  • Current Working with Children Check
  • Valid Class C Driver's Licence
