About us
NSW In Home Care for Early Childhood (NSWIHC) is a not-for-profit organisation established in 2001 as a business arm of NSW Family Day Care Association (NSWFDCA). We provide flexible, personalised early childhood education and care for families who are unable to access other approved care options.
As an approved Child Care Subsidy (CCS) service provider, NSWIHC delivers best-practice In Home Care (IHC) across New South Wales, the ACT, and Tasmania – supporting educators and families to achieve positive outcomes for children through quality, child-focused care.
The role
As an In Home Care Facilitator (IHCF), you'll play a key role in supporting educators and families to deliver high-quality, child-centred In Home Care. You'll visit family homes across Tasmania to provide guidance, monitor quality, and help educators create safe and nurturing learning environments. The role involves travel across Tasmania and requires access to a personal vehicle with current licensing and insurance. As part of the NSWIHC team (based in Sydney), you'll work remotely when not visiting families or educators.
Essential criteria
- Diploma (or higher) in Early Childhood Education and Care (or equivalent two-year qualification)
- Current Registration to Work with Vulnerable People (TAS) and National Police Check
- Current First Aid, CPR, Asthma, and Anaphylaxis training
- Current Child Protection certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Demonstrated understanding of relevant legislation, duty of care, and child safety obligations
- Proven ability to work autonomously and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
- Strong organisational, communication, and reporting skills
Desirable Criteria
- Knowledge of IHC National Guidelines, ARB Licensing Standards, and the Tasmanian Child Care Act 2001
- Experience in educational leadership, mentoring, and regulatory compliance
- Familiarity with compliance monitoring and family support frameworks
Key responsibilities
This is a casual position, worked on an as-required basis, as part of the NSWIHC facilitation team based in Sydney. Working collaboratively within a job-share model, the role supports the delivery of safe, high-quality In Home Care across Tasmania.
- Build and maintain relationships between IHC families and registered educators to support successful care arrangements.
- Conduct family home safety assessments and ensure environments meet licensing and program standards.
- Support IHC educators in delivering high-quality early childhood practice, programming, and reflective learning.
- Uphold privacy and confidentiality in all family and educator interactions.
- Collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team and engage with interagency networks.
- Stay informed of sector developments and implement service policies to ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, regulations, and standards.
