The Opportunity

As VP of Engineering, you'll lead Nexl's global engineering function building, scaling, and inspiring a high-performing team that delivers exceptional products at pace. Based in Sydney, you'll work closely with our CEO, VP of Product, and other leaders to shape our technology vision, scale our architecture, and execute against our ambitious product roadmap.

Frontend: React & TypeScript
Backend: Ruby on Rails with GraphQL, and Python with WebSockets & Protobuf 
Requirements
  • Proven senior engineering leadership experience in high-growth B2B SaaS companies.
  • Strong technical background in modern web application architecture, ideally with experience in our tech stack or similar.
  • Experience leading distributed or remote-first engineering teams at scale.
  • Track record of delivering complex products to market at speed, balancing quality and velocity.
  • Ability to set clear technical direction, while empowering teams to own their work.
  • Strong background in hiring, coaching, and retaining high-performing engineering talent.
  • Skilled at collaborating cross-functionally and communicating with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience with agile methodologies, continuous delivery, and test-driven development.
  • Commercially minded, with an understanding of how engineering decisions impact customers, revenue, and growth.
  • Bonus: Experience working in legaltech, professional services, or industries with high standards for security and compliance.
