Your Impact

Reporting to the Director of Legal, you will play a pivotal role in leading Allied Justice's family law and family violence practice. You will provide expert legal leadership, supervision and mentoring to a team of dedicated lawyers, ensuring high-quality, trauma-informed and culturally safe legal services that improve the safety and wellbeing of families and individuals.

Specifically, you will:

  • Supervise, mentor and support a team of senior lawyers and lawyers including conducting regular file reviews, monitoring caseloads and capacity
  • Provide expert legal advice, representation and casework
  • Oversee quality, compliance and performance across service delivery.
  • Build strong relationships with courts, Victoria Legal Aid, and community sector partners.
  • Contribute to community legal education, advocacy and law reform initiatives.
  • Champion Allied Justice's values and support a positive, inclusive and high-performing team culture

What you bring

You are an experienced lawyer with a passion for social justice and community impact with relevant experience working in the legal assistance sector or in a law firm. You bring strong leadership and communication skills, a collaborative mindset, and a commitment to supporting vulnerable and disadvantaged clients.

You will have:

  • A current Principal Practicing Certificate or eligible to obtain one
  • Subject matter expertise in family law and family violence.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide legal leadership, supervision and mentoring.
  • Highly effective stakeholder engagement and relationship building skills
  • Experience working with clients experiencing disadvantage, trauma and systemic barriers.
  • A commitment to trauma-informed, client-centred and culturally safe practice.
