Your new company
Client is design and build construction company based in Brisbane's southwestern suburbs. They are genuine success story in their sector being the go-to experts for the specialist work they do. Company runs its own fleet of machinery and is looking to hire a suitably qualified and experienced boilermaker to join their workshop-based team.
Your new role
Role will generally involve supporting the workshop manager in the fabrication, maintenance and repair of piling rigs, casings, steel structures, and site equipment.
- Fabrication and welding of steel components, frames, and piling equipment to AS/NZS standards
- Performing MIG, Stick, and Flux-Cored welding to required standards
- Repairs and maintenance of piling tools, leads, and casings
- Interpreting and working from technical drawings and specifications
- General fitting, assembly, and use of workshop machinery

The role is key support to the workshop manager, who runs a small but high performing team. Therefore, looking for someone happy to get out of their lane and help in other areas of the workshop to make sure it runs successfully. Will involve for example, de rigging machines, or using a FLT to move things around the yard or load/unload trucks if he's not available.
Role is based in the companies' modern workshop facility with potentially a small amount of travel to site as required.
What you'll need to succeed
The role has a technical 'barrier to entry' in that the candidates must have cert 3 / Trade Qualification in Fabrication Trade and a minimum of 3 years' experience post apprenticeship.
However, just as importantly for this client is to find the right person. They are wanting to hire mature, sensible, diligent tradesperson that is both keen to learn and take direction, while also being supported to think on your feet to come up with better quality solutions that benefit the business and their clients.
They are wanting a reliable, sensible, safe, hard-working, and self-motivated employee that takes a pride in their work and wants to do a great job as part of an overall business that looks to innovate and exceed their clients' expectations while maintaining a family feel to the business with a genuine care for their team.
The client plans to do a quick weld test as part of the interview process and also as they do defence work, may also need to do a criminal history check.
What you'll get in return
Client looking for an asap start for the suitable candidate. They are offering an interesting and challenging role in a business focussed on quality and innovation.
The company is a tier one subcontractor, so paying well above market for their blue-collar staff including the workshop teams to secure the best qualified and most suitable candidate for the role. Plenty of overtime available if required too.
The company is well managed and led. They have a reputation as being a leading contractor in the work they deliver. They are well established and offer a mature, supportive and sensible environment.
