About the Job

We're seeking a dedicated Salinity Controller to join our River Murray Operations team based in Berri. This exciting role offers the chance to take on a hands-on technical operation, maintenance and monitoring position, playing a key part in optimising the efficiency of our Salt Interception Schemes.

You will collect and analyse operational data, conduct hydraulic performance testing on pipelines, pumps, and bores, and support/oversee maintenance activities carried out by internal and external teams.

Your expertise and commitment to safety will be highly valued as you work both independently and collaboratively to help deliver outstanding outcomes.

About you

Our ideal candidate will have had previous experience working within a team environment, have the ability to meet deadlines and operational targets whilst working under limited supervision, and be able to demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills. The position requires strong analytical skills, and you will have the ability to identify and implement improvements to processes and procedures on an ongoing basis.

You will need to demonstrate strong PC skills and proven experience/competency with the Microsoft Office suite of tools.

You should have a willingness to work remotely and must be prepared to undertake intrastate/interstate travel involving overnight absences from home as required.

Proven Experience within the Water Industry is desirable along with any relevant trade qualifications.
About Operations and Maintenance

The Operations & Maintenance team oversees the management of our water, wastewater and River Murray activities and conducts operational control activities for a secure water supply. The team is responsible for both planned and unplanned maintenance activities, integrating corrective, preventive, predictive, and precision maintenance strategies. They aim to meet availability, performance, cost, and risk targets by leveraging technical asset maintenance and reliability expertise. Operations & Maintenance strives to deliver smart and reliable services to customers while enhancing overall operational efficiency.

Your responsibilities for this opportunity

Fostering trust with our people, customers and community by providing expert advice and service that ensure we effectively communicate and engage audiences with our business strategy and its delivery across South Australia, every day.

You will:

  • Put safety above all else, in accordance with WHS Roles and Responsibilities Procedure.
  • Collect Schemes bore and performance data and accurately enter data into operational database.
  • Perform detailedanalysis of bore and Scheme performancedataandcompared to designrequirements.
  • Assist with operations and maintenance activities.
  • Provide technical advice to assist maintenance team when required.
  • Environmental management, comply with SA Water's environmental policy and with other agencies environmental requirements.
  • Contribute to team goals by actively participating in decision-making and problem-solving.

Your success in this role will come from:

  • Valid Driver's Licence (Essential)
  • White Card (Essential)
  • Carriage of Dangerous Goods Licence or ability to obtain (Essential)
  • Ability to work under limited direction. (Essential)
  • Ability to take part in a rotating on call roster. (Essential)
  • Strong knowledge of Health and Safety, Water Quality, and Environmental procedures (Essential)
  • Effective communication skills and ability to perform basic calculations (Essential)
  • Proficiency with modern computer programs, Microsoft office suite (excel in particular) (Essential)
  • HR Driver's Licence, Dogging, Crane Vehicle Operator's Licence (Desirable)
  • Certificate III in Water Operations (Desirable)

Full Time position with some after-hours works as required.

Expectation to take part in on call roster with a 1 in 4-week rotation.
