Payroll Officer – Fixed Term Contract Until February 2027

What you'll do
In this role, you will:
- Deliver accurate end-to-end payroll processing across manual and electronic records
- Maintain employee payroll data, records and documentation with absolute confidentiality
- Ensure compliance with policies, industrial instruments and legislation
- Maintain data accuracy in HRIS systems for reporting, analysis and payroll integrity
- Identify and troubleshoot payroll discrepancies, recommending improvements
- Support payroll reporting activities and fortnightly payroll cycles
- Assist with end-of-financial-year activities and payroll compliance requirements
- Contribute to payroll & HRIS improvement projects, including user acceptance testing
About you:

Must-haves
- Extensive payroll processing experience (end-to-end, high volume preferred)
- Strong HRIS knowledge with proven payroll system capability
- Sound understanding of industrial instruments, taxation, superannuation & legislation
- Exceptional accuracy, numeracy and attention to detail
- Clear, confident communicator with strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
- Advanced MS Excel skills (formulas, pivot tables, data validation)
- Ability to interpret & explain awards/enterprise agreements, payroll policies and processes
- Professional and tactful approach when applying policy
Nice-to-haves
- Experience in a complex or public sector payroll environment
- Familiarity with TechnologyOne or similar enterprise HRIS
- Exposure to industrial agreements & enterprise bargaining environments
- Experience supporting system upgrades, improvements or UAT
- Knowledge of continuous improvement practices within payroll
