The role
We're seeking a motivated, technically competent Senior Bushfire Officer to join our tight-knit team and help protect the health, safety, and environment across some of the most diverse and iconic landscapes in New South Wales.
This is not your average desk job. You'll be covering half the state, from the rugged beauty of the Far West to the rich cultural and ecological zones of the South East. Expect extensive travel, a dynamic mix of fieldwork and office-based tasks.
What you'll be doing
- Providing expert advice on bushfire management, public land use, and tenure compliance
- Conducting environmental assessments for bushfire hazard reduction and associated Crown land management activities
- Monitoring and evaluating bushfire and environmental management performance on Crown land
- Implementing, auditing, coordinating and reporting on bushfire management projects
- Representing the organisation in stakeholder negotiations and on local Bush Fire Management Committees and subcommittees
- Implementing and coordinating hazard reduction efforts to manage public liability risks
- Providing support and advice on complex land and environmental issues associated with bushfire and emergency management
- Maintaining accurate data on bushfire management activities to support risk-based project prioritisation

What you will bring to the role
- A background in Fire, Natural Resource Management, Environmental Science, or Project Management
- Strong technical competence and analytical thinking
- A proactive, self-driven attitude with a passion for making a difference
- Willingness to work in a team environment
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to navigate complex stakeholder relationships
- Experience in Guardian and Service Now
- Respect for Traditional Owners and cultural heritage, with a commitment to inclusive practices
What is an Essential Requirement
- Tertiary qualifications in environmental science, natural resources, planning or other relevant field and/or equivalent level of knowledge and experience
- Current driver's licence and willingness to travel.
