The Opportunity
We are seeking a Branch Manager to join our senior leadership team on the East Coast.
Based in Gisborne Tairawhiti, you'll play an important part in supporting the success and growth of our Gisborne and Wairoa branches. Renowned for its welcoming culture, vibrant community spirit, stunning golden beaches, and iconic sunrises, all set within a region rich in history and natural beauty. Join us to lead our team in this unique setting. Reporting to the East Coast Regional Manager, you'll help manage a busy branch with valuable assets and oversee a team of about 180 staff. You'll contribute to planning and help run daily operations, supporting safety, environmental and financial performance while helping maintain client and staff satisfaction.
You'll also assist with commercial and contractual responsibilities, working towards long-term goals for the business. Your ability to understand client needs and come up with practical solutions will help us move forward. Good relationship-building skills will support strong client partnerships. With your energy and a positive outlook, you'll help drive progress and work towards lasting aims for the region.
In addition to the above you will:
Oversee all branch operations, ensuring sustainable business practices
Provide strong leadership and guidance to divisional staff to maximise performance
Maintain the highest standards in commercial and contractual management across divisions
Support pricing, tendering, and forward work acquisition
Proactively identify and resolve potential issues
Build and nurture client relationships to foster loyalty and trust

We're looking for someone with:
Minimum of five years' management experience in the civil construction industry
Degree or equivalent suitable qualification in civil engineering / business management
Business leadership experience with demonstrated leadership capability with a focus on people, safety and quality
Strong financial management skills and commercial acumen (including asset, budgeting, cost-benefit analysis and reconciliation)
Extensive experience in tendering, pricing strategies, cost estimation, and managing the bidding process
The ability to build and maintain relationships with key clients and stakeholders, both internally and externally
Excellent problem-solving abilities and strategic thinking
Sound knowledge of NZTA and/or local authority management processes, as well as an understanding of the relevant industry legislation and regulations
Current class 1 full licence
