Preston, Victoria, Australia Hays Full time $120,000 - $180,000 per year

Lead, mentor and make your mark in a growing firm focused on motor claims litigation | Preston office location

Your new firm

This boutique litigation firm has a proven track record in civil and commercial disputes. The team is known for combining strong technical capability with practical, results-driven advocacy. You'll be joining a vibrant, collaborative workplace with a real sense of momentum. The firm has grown to over 20 staff and counting - with legal, operational and administrative support to match. They invest in their people, promote from within, and offer a genuine pathway for lawyers ready to lead.

Your new role

As the firm continues to scale, they're now looking for a Senior Litigation Lawyer who's ready to step up into a leadership role and take ownership of a busy practice area. You will be responsible for driving litigation forward and guiding junior lawyers, while being a central part of the firm's continued growth. You'll work closely with the Managing Director and have the autonomy to run matters end-to-end while shaping a high-performing team around you.

Day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  • Running a busy portfolio of motor vehicle liability litigation matters (primarily for not-at-fault drivers);
  • Managing and mentoring junior lawyers and legal assistants;
  • Providing strategic advice and driving matters through to resolution - whether negotiated or litigated;
  • Engaging directly with clients, counsel and counterparties to resolve disputes effectively;
  • Helping shape internal processes and be part of broader firm growth and development.

What you'll need to succeed

  • At least 4 years' PAE in civil litigation, commercial litigation, or insurance-related disputes;
  • Prior experience with motor vehicle claims or liability matters is ideal, but not essential;
  • Strong leadership skills;
  • Confident file management abilities, excellent drafting skills, and clear client communication;
  • A commercially minded, solutions-first approach.

What you'll get in return

  • Opportunity to lead and mentor junior staff;
  • Clear career progression pathway;
  • Supportive, diverse team culture - team lunches, social events, and quarterly team building events;
  • Gym membership;
  • Salary sacrificing;
  • Competitive salary package and incentives.
