The School of Science (SSCI) teaches and conducts research across many areas including Biochemistry, Molecular Biophysics, Microbiology and Cell and Molecular Biology, Conservation Biology, Earth Surface Processes, Ecology, Ecotoxicology, Environmental Science, Earth systems, Marine Biology and Spatial Sciences and disciplines of Chemistry including Medicinal, Synthetic and Physical Chemistry, Analytical and Catalysis Chemistry.

SSCI has major research programs and HDR training aligned with Molecular Horizons and Environmental Futures, with global research connections providing multi-faceted opportunities for knowledge growth and development.

About the role

This teaching intensive academic position involves coordinating, administering and teaching a range of undergraduate SSCI subjects, including Foundation Chemistry – Properties of Matter/Reactions & Structures, General Chemistry and Food Chemistry. Coordination of subjects delivered on Liverpool campus will be established by this role, in close collaboration with Wollongong Campus.

In addition to teaching, you will contribute to academic governance and service, while actively engaging in the development and enhancement of teaching pedagogy. The successful candidate will also be expected to undertake and maintain a program of education research to drive innovation and continuous improvement in student learning.

About you

You will hold a PhD or have equivalent experience in a relevant area of chemistry, with demonstrated expertise in designing, coordinating, and teaching molecular science subjects at tertiary level. You will bring strengths in laboratory supervision, student mentorship, and the use of innovative teaching technologies to support learning outcomes. With excellent interpersonal and communication skills, you will collaborate effectively with students and colleagues and show a strong commitment to best practices in assessment, safety, and inclusive education.
