Project Overview

Bechtel is providing a wide variety project and contract management services, crossing all disciplines, to customers in Western Australia to support exciting capital works programmes, including in aviation, defence and energy infrastructure. We are looking for people to join us in a long-term relationship to deliver these services in and around Perth where we are working within integrated teams with our customers and to help build Bechtel's capabilities for even greater opportunities in the future.

Job Summary
In this role, you will lead a team and interpret, organize, execute, and coordinate the engineering technical aspects for complex projects. You will participate in project planning, proposal review, and will own the engineering elements of capital estimates. Your technical guidance and recommendations will ensure engineering aspects meet project requirements and remain within scope and budget.

Major Responsibilities

  • Ensures scope, design basis and objectives are defined, best practices/lessons learned reviewed, detailed work plans, schedules, budgets and procedures are established
  • Coordinates technical issues with other departments which may include constructability requirements and technical reviews.
  • Performs work that involves conventional engineering practice but may include complex features such as resolving conflicting design requirements, unsuitability of conventional materials and/or difficult coordination requirements.
  • Knowledge and experience of the complex interfaces with airport design and the detailed design prepared by multiple design contractors on projects.
  • Identifies quality requirements and ensures the proper processes are identified and implemented to achieve contractual quality commitments.

Leadership

  • Manages the work efforts of professionals.
  • Makes decisions based on unit objectives, as well as company policies and procedures.
  • May be responsible for a functional Program and not have any subordinate employees.
  • Assists and may mentor less experienced team members.

Education And Experience Requirements

  • Typically requires bachelor's or master's degree (or international equivalent) and 13-15 years of relevant experience or 17-19 years of relevant work experience. Recent experience on a major ($1b+) airport facilities;
  • Management of Fire / Life-Safety approvals;
  • Management of MEP & Control Systems Contractors in an aviation context;
  • Knowledge of industry, technology and EPC work processes.
  • Extensive knowledge of BIM and other automation and technology to facilitate design reviews, quantity take-offs and asset management.

  • Must be a self-starter and highly motivated to succeed.
  • Demonstrated skill in identifying, analyzing and solving problems

  • Experience of working within a multicultural, highly diverse team environment is essential.
  • Desirable: understanding of current innovations, including applications of AI.
  • Desirable: understanding of airline industry and international regulatory codes, standards and design criteria relating to airport design.
  • Essential: prior experience in managing multiple packages of work.
  • Possesses working knowledge and production ability with computer-aided drafting software, such as AutoCAD and Revit.
  • Possesses a working knowledge of BIM processes, including experience designing projects in BIM platforms, particularly Revit and Navisworks.
