What You Will Do:

As a Land Protection Officer, you will enjoy leading by example in undertaking a diverse range of tasks, ensuring that no two days are ever the same

Works undertaken by the Natural Assets Management Team are spread across the region from Waugh's Pocket in the South to Ellis Beach in the North. Your role is focused on pest plant and animal management along with seasonal fire management, revegetation and native wildlife activities. You will liaise and assist in working with the community in a range of land management practices for a variety of issues impacting the natural environment and our community. You will also have ample opportunities for skill development and training to meet a varied workload that shifts with the seasons.

What We Are Looking For:

  • A current class C Drivers Licence (Manual) to have the ability to independently drive between various locations to meet operational needs.
  • Secondary education with good writing and communication skills along with a Cert III Horticulture, Cert II Conservation & Land Management or equivalent or extensive experience in an environmental and/ or land management role.
  • Able to identify declared species and manage and control same e.g. landscaping, forestry, environmental repair, park development, pest plant and animal control.
  • Demonstrated ability to undertake a wide variety of physically demanding labouring tasks in a range of climatic conditions and terrains.
  • Experience in using small plant.
  • An understanding and knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety relating to outdoor work activities in parks and reserves.
