About the role
Working with a team of enthusiastic and experienced Lab Technicians, Fire Assayers and Photon Operators, we are actively seeking additional personnel to join the ranks. Located in Maddington WA, our team provide quality services to clients processing mineral samples using Fire Assay techniques.
Duties
The primary tasks and responsibilities of the roles include, but are not limited to:
- Weigh samples based on mineralogy,
- Acid test work on all Fire Assay samples,
- Fuse and Cupel samples
- Prepare Cupels
- Handle, modify and apply various flux reagents
- Lead and Prill collection
- Identify and rectify poor fusions in routine situations
- Perform routine preventative maintenance on equipment and plant
- Other duties as required including but not limited to Sample preparation.
Role requirements
The position requires the successful candidate to:
- Have good communication skills
- Be able to work in a team, as well as individually as required
- Fire Assay experience, or laboratory experience
- Be physically fit
- Be able to work a rotating 7/7 shift (11.5hrs p/day) roster including morning, night shifts.
- Certificate III in Laboratory Skills or equivalent qualification preferred, or willingness to undertake training
Photon Operator
Perform operational and maintenance functions on the automated equipment as required.
- Follow all documented procedures to ensure maintenance of quality accreditation.
- Conduct general cleaning and maintenance of the sample station and processing unit.
- QA/QC
- Work efficiently to achieve a consistent level of production.
- Perform housekeeping and keep a tidy work area.
- Other appropriate duties as instructed by the Shift Supervisor.
