The Clarence Health Service includes Grafton Base Hospital. As a level 3/4 facility providing care to over 13,000 inpatients each year we work closely with Maclean District Hospital as well as other hospitals in Northern NSW and tertiary hospitals in Southern Queensland to support the healthcare needs of our community. With a population of approximately 51,300 the Clarence Valley has a well-established health care infrastructure and a strong network of community services to support your career needs. What you'll be doing
Managing patients requiring intensive care, those at risk of clinical deterioration requiring intensive care, plus pre- and post-intensive care evaluation. Critically ill patients include patients with life-threatening single and multiple organ system failure, those at risk of clinical deterioration as well as those requiring resuscitation and/or management in an intensive care unit.
Working under the supervision of Specialist Intensive Care Physicians, assisting to manage, diagnose and treat the disturbances associated with severe medical, surgical, obstetric and paediatric illness and the conditions that cause them. This may include management of deteriorating and seriously ill patients outside the intensive care unit as well as the intra-hospital transport of critically ill patients.
- Qualifications and experience commensurate with the Essential Requirements for the role (please address these in your response)
- Advanced ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team in the planning, delivery and coordination of patient care
- Advanced written and verbal communication skills and ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with patients, family members and others members of the health care team
- Advanced organisational and time management skills and ability to manage competing priorities in a complex environment
- Demonstrated commitment to quality improvement, patient safety and risk management
- Evidence of continuing professional development and commitment to self-education
- Demonstrated competency in clinical skills, including complex symptom assessment and management of emotional, social and psycho-existential issues, interpreting patient history, physical examination, pathology, ECG and radiological investigations to diagnose simple and complex medical presentations
- Willing to participate in the on call roster as the CMO may be required to be first on-call as dictated by the medical roster. A senior medical officer will be available for advice when the CMO is on-call
