About the role:
The Senior Plant Technician - Electrical/Instrumentation is responsible for operating and maintaining all assets at Mt Stuart Power Station in Townsville with a focus on electrical, instrumentation and High voltage assets . The role ensures the plant operates reliably, efficiently, and economically, with a strong emphasis on electrical integrity and instrumentation accuracy.
Key responsibilities include:
- Safe and effective operation and maintenance of Power station assets.
- Prioritising personnel safety and ensuring compliance with technical, environmental, and commercial standards.
- Leading Permit to Work (PTW) processes for all Power station activities (Major & Minor activities).
- Managing plant outages and supporting project works involving electrical systems and control instrumentation.
- Co-ordinating and managing High Voltage assets on site such as Transformers, Generators and protection systems.
- Championing systems such as HSEC, PTW, CMMS, SCADA, Management of Change and DCS, with a focus on electrical and instrumentation reliability.
- Participating in the site on-call roster and providing after-hours technical support.
- Acting as Station Manager when required, with a focus on electrical and instrumentation oversight.
What will you bring?
- Trade Certificate in Electrical Fitting & Instrumentation, or equivalent.
- Experience in Steam or Gas Turbine operation and maintenance.
- Strong understanding of condition monitoring, rotating equipment, and control systems in power generation or heavy industry.
- Advanced skills in SAP CMMS, with experience in managing l work orders, inventory and purchasing.
- Experience with SCADA, DCS and Historian systems for monitoring and control.
- Proven experience with Permit to Work and safe access systems.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Applications.
- Highly organized, self-driven, and capable of managing electrical workloads independently.
