Covenant Christian School is a distinctly and explicitly Christian Prep to Year 12 co-educational day school with over 800 students, located in Belrose on Sydney's Northern Beaches.

Working in partnership with parents, our passionate and highly qualified teaching staff deliver the curriculum from the understanding that all of life must be centred on God and his plan to restore all things under the Lordship of Jesus Christ.

ROLE STATEMENT

To develop and deliver quality 7-12 English curriculum content to students, ensuring all curriculum, teaching programs and assessment procedures are compliant with NESA requirements and school pedagogical perspectives, from a Christian perspective and in an age-appropriate manner that encourages students to think biblically and allow them to be challenged academically to develop and use their gifts wisely.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Instruction and Curriculum

  • Deliver quality teaching to students, ensuring compliance with NESA requirements and school pedagogical perspectives, and aid in the delivery of curriculum content from a Christian perspective.

Assessment

  • Implement effective practices to monitor student progress and academic standards within the guidelines set by the school, providing constructive feedback.
  • Ensure all administrative deadlines are met (eg, student reports) informing your Faculty Coordinator of any variances; providing appropriate work for students when absent from school.

Student Support

  • Implement a child safe culture that promotes positive student wellbeing and implements the school's discipline and welfare programs, having a genuine care and interest in each students' welfare inside and outside the classroom.
  • Provide an effective climate of classroom culture and learning that fosters academic achievement, clear student behavioural learning and discipline, actively exploring ways to differentiate learning experiences and assessment in the classroom
  • Ensure a strong Parent Partnership presence that supports our community on both a day-to-day level and in Secondary School events and programs
  • Work in collaboration with Learning Support and Extension and Enrichment staff to provide relevant students with the appropriate additional support they require, and communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding student progress, where appropriate in accordance with school policies and procedures.
  • Report any concerns regarding the wellbeing of students to your Coordinator.
  • Use technology, where appropriate, to improve teaching and learning processes.

Professional Development

  • In consultation with your faculty Coordinator, participate in Professional Learning activities (including during PD Week and Conference Week events) to enhance your teaching practice through a framework of feedback and continued professional growth. Ensure you maintain a proper work/life balance to support your own wellbeing.

School Community

  • Work cohesively with staff, being subject to relevant Coordinators in line with the organizational structure of the school, and promote collaborative relationships between teachers, students and parents.
  • Contribute to staff meetings to improve teaching and learning quality and practices; and collaborate with staff members in the development of their understanding.
  • Contribute to staff devotions, assist with student assemblies and school events, as required, and be involved in the wider life of the school to help instill cultural expectations across the School.
  • Maintain a positive uniform culture at all times.

KEY REQUIREMENTS

  • Committed Christian of a reformed evangelical persuasion actively involved in the life of their local church.
  • Able and willing to sincerely affirm the School's Statement of Belief, modelling a lifestyle that reflects Christian practice and beliefs in their everyday life.
  • Genuine passion for, and capabilities in Christian Education, suitably qualified, and NESA accredited in NSW.
  • Extension 1 English experience preferred
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills; ability to work and contribute in a team environment
  • A current Working with Children Check
  • Competent in the use of technology as it relates to education programs
  • An understanding of the unique development needs of students and the significance of spiritual, social and emotional learning to personal growth, wellbeing and academic engagement.
