The Opportunity

Andaz Gold Coast is seeking an Engineering Manager to take charge in overseeing all technical, mechanical, and facility-related operation during the hotel's pre-opening phase and transition to opening.

Responsibilities include maintaining the hotel building, public areas and event spaces, hotel guest rooms & suites, essential services and life safety systems, managing colleague & contractors, along with specialized projects. This role oversees our hotel Sustainability Team with a focus on reducing consumptions in utilities and developing innovative environmental initiatives.

As an Engineering Manager, your ability to shape and influence the engineering division, whilst working closely with senior leadership within the hotel, will provide an excellent opportunity to broaden your engineering and business management skills.

Key Responsibilities

Pre-Opening

Project Coordination

• Review engineering drawings, equipment schedules, and operational manuals
• Work with the project consultants and contractor to ensure construction and installation works meet brand specification and local regulations
• Participate in site inspections, and commissioning of building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, elevators, life safety systems)
• Develop the pre-opening engineering critical path and operational plan
• Establish preventive maintenance programs and assets registers for all equipment, including utilities.

Operating Responsibilities (Post-Operating Transition)

Maintenance & Facility Management

• Ensure the safe and efficient operation of all technical systems in the hotel.
• Oversee preventative and corrective maintenance across guestrooms, public areas, heart of house, and outdoor spaces

Safety & Compliance

• Maintain compliance with fire, health, and safety regulations
• Lead emergency procedure and coordinate regular safety drills

Budget Management

• Prepare and manage engineering budgets, capex and utility
• Monitor energy usage and implement cost-effective energy management strategies

Vendor & Contractor Management

• Manage external contractors for specialised maintenance and inspections
• Ensure SLA compliance and timely completion of service works

Guest Support

• Ensure prompt response to guest engineering-related issues and maintaining high guest satisfaction standards.

Qualifications

• Proven success as a Engineering Manager within luxury or upper-upscale hotels advantageous
• Degree or diploma in Engineering (mechanical, Electrical, Civil or related fields) or Tradesperson qualified
• Minimum 5 -7 years of hotel engineering experience, including 2 + years in supervisory or managerial role.
• Proven experience in pre-opening hotels projects is highly preferred
• Strong understating of hospitality engineering systems and preventive maintenance programs
• Knowledge of local building codes, HO&S standards, and fire safety regulation
• Excellent leadership, communication and project coordination skills.
