the Commercial Finance Manager - Merchandise
will play a leading role in driving commercial outcomes across our merchandise functions.

Reporting to the GM - Commercial Finance, you will partner with functional EGMs and their direct reports to set, manage and evolve commercial objectives in line with category and business wide objectives. Leading a small team your role will include providing commercial insight across functional/category performance while also having a view on external market trends and considerations. Given our ambitious vision, this role will suit an experienced commercial finance leader who thrives in a high paced and constantly evolving environment.

What does the role involve?

• Partner with key Merchandise leaders to drive improved financial performance in all categories across all channels - Retail stores and Digital trade
• Partner with buying and planning teams to drive meaningful revenue management outcomes
• P&L management including reporting, analysis and commentary against forecast/budget
• Lead finance inputs for all strategic projects and brand partnerships across all categories
• Financial analysis of proposed channel initiatives, including modelling and sensitivity analysis
• Support the functional leads with the formulation of medium-term strategy planning
• Provide insights and recommendations to improve business performance
• Lead, develop and coach a team of finance analysts

Who are we looking for?

• Previous experience in a similar senior commercial finance leadership/business partner role
• Detailed knowledge and experience of Merchandise/Retail
• CA/CPA Qualified
• Capability to drive business improvement and ROI to deliver commercial outcomes
• Experience with financial systems, preferably Oracle Financials and EPM or equivalent reporting/forecasting tool
• Strong communication skills with the ability to present financial data in ways that are effective and readily understood
• Proven interpersonal, influence and relationship management skills
• Someone who is energised working in highly transformative environments
• Proven commercial acumen with experience in the retail/consumer industry highly desirable
