We are seeking an experienced Head of Bookkeeping to join our leadership team and oversee the bookkeeping and financial control function across the group.

About the Role

The Head of Bookkeeping will be responsible for managing all bookkeeping operations across multiple pharmacy sites. This role requires a detail-oriented professional with strong leadership skills who can implement consistent systems, provide accurate reporting, and ensure compliance with all relevant obligations.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading the bookkeeping function across the Hazel Pharma network.
  • Ensuring accurate and timely processing of accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and bank reconciliations.
  • Maintaining and standardising the Chart of Accounts across all pharmacies (Xero experience highly desirable).
  • Preparing and reviewing month-end accounts, reconciliations, and financial reports.
  • Monitoring GST, BAS, superannuation, and payroll compliance.
  • Implementing financial controls and ensuring adherence to company policies.
  • Supporting budget preparation, cashflow forecasting, and variance analysis.
  • Liaising with external accountants, auditors, and key stakeholders.
  • Training, mentoring, and supporting bookkeeping staff across the network.

About You

To succeed in this role, you will bring:

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a senior bookkeeping, finance, or multi-site management role.
  • Advanced proficiency in Xero or similar cloud-based accounting software.
  • Strong knowledge of payroll, GST, BAS, and compliance reporting requirements.
  • Exceptional attention to detail with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Proven ability to meet deadlines and manage competing priorities.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Experience in healthcare, pharmacy, or retail environments (highly regarded).
