Arup's purpose, shared values and collaborative approach has set us apart for over 75 years, guiding how we shape a better world.

A career at Arup offers you the chance to make a positive difference in the world. Independently owned and independently minded, we attract a diverse mix of people to work on ground breaking projects around the world.

Sustainability is a core strategic goal at Arup, with our mission dedicated to fostering a more equitable and sustainable future for humanity, ecosystems, and the planet as a whole. We provide advice, design, and planning support to major clients globally, and our growing Climate and Sustainability services team is seeking a candidate to support a wide range of projects as we help clients achieve their sustainability goals.

We are working on some of Australia's most exciting infrastructure projects across rail, road, water, ports and airports. From early strategy to detailed design, we help clients deliver sustainable, future ready outcomes.

We have an opportunity for a Senior Sustainability Consultant to lead and support sustainability workstreams on major infrastructure projects. You'll collaborate with designers and project managers to shape practical, high impact solutions.

Based in WA, you'll join a regionally connected team of sustainability experts, working across project, portfolio and corporate levels. This is a great opportunity to influence how infrastructure is planned and delivered across Australia.

The Opportunity

  • Develop comprehensive reports in areas such as climate resilience, carbon, circular economy, nature-based solutions, and social value.
  • Collaborate closely with stakeholders and clients to seamlessly implement advanced sustainability strategies and business processes that improve sustainability performance for infrastructure projects.
  • Take ownership of conducting sustainability assessments and detailed life cycle analyses.
  • Work alongside planners and designers to advance new practices and push boundaries in sustainable design.
  • Coordinate infrastructure sustainability rating or certification schemes.
  • Manage mid to large sized projects, allocating resources effectively and engaging with Subject Matter Experts as required.
  • Demonstrate an active interest in the career development of junior staff.

At Arup, you belong to an extraordinary collective – in which we encourage individuality to thrive. Our strength comes from how we respect, share and connect our diverse experiences, perspectives and ideas.

You will have the opportunity do socially useful work that has meaning – to Arup, to your career, to our members and to the clients and communities we serve.

Is this role right for you?

  • Recognised relevant tertiary qualifications in engineering, science or similar area;
  • Minimum 7 years' sustainability experience within a consulting business or project delivery environment;

  • Planning & Delivery – Demonstratable ability to create organized plans and execute them efficiently, managing resources to meet deadlines and adapting to changes.

  • Proficiency in Excel is essential, PowerBI, Python, and Power Query is desirable.

What we offer you

At Arup, we care about each member's success, so we can grow together.

Guided by our values, we provide an attractive total reward package that recognises the contribution of each of our members to our shared success.
