Located on the tropical Groote Eylandt in the Northern Territory, GEMCO is an open-cut mine that is accountable for over 15% of the world's manganese ore production. ABOUT THE ROLE

This role is a Permanent position on a 7:7 day/night roster, FIFO from Darwin or Cairns to Groote Eylandt.

As the Technician Maintenance - Pump and Genset Fitter, you will be responsible for maintaining critical mine dewatering infrastructure and supporting reliable operation of mobile and fixed equipment, both in-field and within the workshop.

Other key responsibilities include, but aren't limited to:

  • Perform maintenance and overhauls on diesel and petrol engines, gensets and pumps
  • Rebuild pump wet ends and install mechanical seals
  • Conduct hydraulic servicing and maintenance on small ancillary equipment
  • Diagnose, repair and test mechanical and electrical faults on plant and vehicles

ABOUT YOU

You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following:

  • Strong background in maintenance of diesel engines, gensets and dewatering pumps
  • Skilled in fault-finding and diagnostics across mechanical, hydraulic and electrical systems
  • Experienced in both field and workshop maintenance environments
  • Clear and proactive communicator with a safety-focused approach

Qualifications for this position are:

  • Trade qualification - Diesel Mechanic, Light Automotive or On-Highway Diesel
  • High Risk License; Dogging, Gantry Crane and Forklift desirable
  • HR License or Current C Class Drivers License desirable
