Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform regular maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on a wide range of heavy vehicles (trucks, trailers, and other road transport equipment).
  • Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues and provide solutions to ensure optimal vehicle performance.
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections, ensuring all vehicles are safe and operational.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and industry standards in all maintenance activities.
  • Maintain accurate records of work completed and parts used.
  • Work collaboratively with the team to manage vehicle downtime and ensure prompt return to service.
  • Respond to emergency breakdowns and provide on-site mechanical support when needed.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Trade qualification as a Mechanic (Heavy Vehicle / Road Transport) or equivalent.
  • Proven experience in diagnosing and repairing road transport vehicles (trucks, trailers, etc.).
  • Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical systems in heavy vehicles.
  • Experience with preventive maintenance and the ability to identify potential issues before they become critical.
  • Ability to work in a FIFO environment, adhering to strict safety and work standards.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • A valid driver's license (preferably heavy vehicle).
