Hatchery Supervisor

An excellent career opportunity exists within our farming division working in our state of the art Hatchery facility in Mulgrave NSW. Working full time, The Hatchery Supervisor works closely with the Hatchery Manager and Breeder and the Farming Operations Manager, to provide technical and management support on all matters relevant to duckling production including animal welfare, biosecurity and food safety.

Key Responsibilities:

• Living on site, (accommodation provided) you will contribute to hatchery On-Call as discussed with Breeder and Hatchery Division Manager and Hatchery Manager, responding to alarms when required.

• Conduct setter checking including removal of bombs (contaminated eggs) as required, as well as incubator calibration.

• Assist with stocktake and ordering of general hatchery supplies/PPE.

• Assist with egg-receival / storage / set preparations as required.

• Assist with record keeping, reporting, documentation as required (e.g., hatch reports, stocktaking, data analysis)

• Assist with staff rostering.

• Maintenance: Assist with undertaking general daily maintenance for the hatchery. Assist with repairing and ensuring incubators are performing consistently. Willing to conducts any necessary repairs in a prompt manner.

• Contractors: assist with supervising and directing contractors while they are on site.

• Communication: Liaising with staff, contractors, and service providers regularly and effectively.

•Problem Solving/Decision Making: Effectively communicates any issues to management, assists in deciding on best method to resolve issues, adopts approaches to minimize future reoccurrences.

• Time Management: Ability to priorities workload, multitasks, ensures urgent matters are addressed promptly.

The Candidate

• Agriculture/animal science tertiary qualification and/or 5 years experience working within a poultry hatchery environment
• Understanding of livestock production systems and a desire to work with intensive livestock.
• Communicate effectively with company personnel and service providers.
• Demonstrate ability to work efficiently when unsupervised.
• Effective time management skills, ability to prioritise, multi task and ensure urgent matters are dealt with promptly
• Ability to apply a hands-on approach to the position.
• Show a desire and an initiative to take ownership of the position.
• Competent skills with Microsoft Office programs.
• Current driver's licence.

The package:

An attractive salary (dependent on the applicant) as well as on site accommodation and amenities will be made available.  Computer and phone allowance is also provided.
