Tiffanys Specialty Cakes & Savouries' is seeking an experienced Cook/Chef to join our vibrant team in our Everton Hills bakery. This is a full-time position, offering the successful candidate the opportunity to contribute to the creation of our renowned specialty cakes and savoury goods.
What you'll be doing
Food Preparation and Cooking
• Prepare, cook, and present a wide variety of dishes according to
recipes and dietary requirements.
• Ensure consistent quality, taste, and presentation of all meals.
• Adapt menus to accommodate special dietary needs and
allergies.
Menu Planning and Development
• Collaborate in designing menus that reflect current food trends
and customer preferences.
• Suggest seasonal specials and innovate new recipes.
• Manage portion sizes and costing to maximize profitability.
Kitchen Management
• Oversee daily kitchen operations and maintain a clean, safe, and
organized workspace.
• Schedule and supervise kitchen staff, including junior cooks and
kitchen hands.
• Coordinate food deliveries and inventory management to ensure
fresh ingredients.
Health, Safety, and Hygiene Compliance
• Maintain compliance with Australian food safety standards and
hygiene regulations.
• Ensure proper food handling, storage, and sanitation practices
are followed.
• Conduct regular kitchen inspections and staff training on safety
protocols.
Customer Service and Quality Control
• Respond to customer feedback and make adjustments to improve
satisfaction.
• Work closely with front-of-house staff to ensure smooth service
delivery.
• Monitor food quality and consistency during service hours.
Cost Control and Inventory Management
• Monitor stock levels and place orders as needed.
• Minimize waste and control food costs through efficient use of
ingredients.
• Maintain accurate records of inventory, orders, and kitchen
expenses.
Team Leadership and Training
• Mentor and train junior kitchen staff and apprentices.
• Foster a positive and productive work environment.
• Resolve conflicts and ensure teamwork and communication.
Equipment Maintenance
• Ensure all kitchen equipment is properly maintained and
operational.
• Report any equipment faults and arrange for repairs.
What we're looking for
- Minimum 2-3 years' experience as a Cook or Chef in a commercial kitchen environment, ideally within the hospitality or food production industry
- Strong knowledge of food preparation, cooking and baking techniques
- Ability to work efficiently and collaboratively as part of a team
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high quality standards
- Demonstrated ability to work well under pressure and to deadlines
- Current Food Safety Supervisor certificate or willingness to obtain
