We have a number of positions for enthusiastic people looking to start their Construction Traineeship.

Wage Award: National wage Award
Mode: Full time = 38 hours per week
Period of Apprenticeship: 12 months
Training: Certificate II in Construction 
Location: Cooranbong and surrounding suburbs of Tuggerah Lake Macquarie Wyong

DESCRIPTION: 

Carry out tasks related to the Construction trade, in a factory environment under the supervision of qualified trades persons. Attend off the job trade school to complete learning and assessment outcomes required for a construction traineeship.

DUTIES:

• 
  Material Handling: 
  
  Loading, unloading, and moving raw materials, tools, and finished products safely and efficiently. 
  
  
• 
  Machinery Operation: 
  
  Operating and monitoring various types of plant and machinery under the guidance of experienced workers. 
  
  
• Assisting with site preparation: Helping to get the construction area ready for work to begin. 
• Maintenance: Cleaning and maintaining tools, equipment, and the worksite to ensure a safe and organized environment. 
• Training and development: Actively participating in training and self-development activities to achieve the required qualification. 

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:

• A willingness to develop skills and knowledge in this trade
• Physical fitness and the ability to undertake manual labour for extended periods
• Be a safe confident worker
• Willingness to travel
• CI Card (White Card) (or be willing to obtain prior to starting)
• Enjoy practical and manual work
• Ability to follow instructions and communicate effectively
• Minimum of year 10 schooling

A SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE WILL IDEALLY:

• Domestic building experience / exposure to a jobsite
• Be reliable, enthusiastic and willing to work as part of a team.
• Have a car and licence is generally required due to changing sites.

About HIA Apprentices

Please note that we have a huge demand for junior apprentices at the moment (under 21 years of age)

Some tasks will require moderate dexterity and moderate to high physical exertion through varied working positions, e.g. standing, kneeling, bending and overhead positions, working at heights plus digging and handling building products.

Apprentices are expected to be available during required working hours for both work placements and trade school/training centre environments and make their own safe travel arrangements.
