Optical Dispenser

There is an exciting and rare opportunity for a motivated optical dispenser who is passionate about patient care to join our family focused independent practice in Wentworth Point, NSW. We are a full-scope practice offering a wide range of services from children's vision to low vision and we pride ourselves in delivering quality services and products. Wentworth Point is a lovely expanding community and our practice is a short walk to refreshing water views and scenery, which you can enjoy on your lunch breaks.

The position is full-time, however part-time options will be considered for the right candidate. We are in search of the right person who share our vision and goals to join our family team. Previous experience in customer service and in the optical industry is ideal. If you are someone who is a great communicator, enthusiastic about customer service, have a willingness to learn and are passionate about helping people, then you are what we are after

Key Responsibilities

• Provide exceptional patient care by assisting with frame and lens selections, dispensing and fitting optical aids, and delivering tailored advice to meet patient needs
• Carry out precision frame measurements, adjustments, repairs, and manage job ordering and delivery to ensure a seamless patient experience
• Greet patients warmly, manage appointments, and assist with all aspects of reception and office administration, including payments, Medicare/HICAPS claims, couriers, and end-of-day banking procedures
• Maintain accurate stock control and inventory, ensuring selections reflect current fashion trends and the unique preferences of the clientele
• Assist with marketing and social media presence
• Uphold a clean, organised, and safe workspace while following all workplace health and safety guidelines
• Maintain accurate records using practice management software and support practice operations efficiently
• Working as part of a positive team environment, balancing empathy and professionalism in all interactions
• Demonstrate strong problem-solving, time management, and organisational abilities in daily tasks
• Contribute ideas and provide outstanding service that helps the business grow and thrive within the community

Qualifications & experience:

• Certificate IV in Optical Dispensing
• Current first aid certificate, or willing to undertake this prior to commencing work
• 3 years of previous experience in a similar role is ideal

• Sound problem‑solving skills with basic arithmetic competence
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook); Optomate Touch experience desirable
• Experience with social media and marketing desirable
• Skilled in patient care including frame selection, lens and prescription dispensing, frame adjustments, and repairs
• Solid understanding of optical prescriptions, lens options, and fashion trends to meet patient and practice needs
• Awareness of clientele profiles and ability to curate and organise suitable stock
