Working at Transurban is different; it's a place where you can see the benefits of your work play out in real life, every day. We create city-sized solutions—building and operating safer, smarter, and more sustainable roads - to solve pressing transport challenges that are slowing cities down.

About the role

We're seeking a Senior Internal Auditor on a 12-month contract, who will be responsible for internal audit project management and delivery of internal audit projects, including scoping, field work, data analytics and audit reporting.

Key to the role will be the ability to execute high quality work, develop trusted relationships at all levels across the business and to promote and maintain a positive and transparent audit culture throughout the organisation.

You'll join an innovative team, reporting to the Head of Internal Audit. As our Senior Internal Auditor, you'll contribute to lasting and positive changes that shape the future of our cities and communities. It's meaningful, challenging and exciting work.

Day-to-day, you will:

  • Co-ordinate a portfolio of internal audit projects and compliance activities, including the key administrative tasks required to be able to deliver the audits as part of the Internal Audit plan

  • Execute the delivery of audit engagements including the scoping, development of test plans, data and analytics testing, fieldwork and drafting of reports detailing results and observations

  • Maintain strong relationships with stakeholders during and post engagements

  • Support the internal audit annual planning activities, including co-ordination of key administrative activities

  • Working in collaboration with the risk management team, prepare and execute risk/control assessments for each internal audit

  • Ability to challenge and evaluate risk management processes

  • Understand and audit compliance programs and regulatory requirements

  • Create the first draft of audit reports, audit committee papers and any other internal audit material as directed

  • Assist and execute other special project activities

This role will suit someone with a curious mind and transferable skills and experiences, including:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Finance, Commerce, Technology or a related discipline

  • Strong and proven controls experience as an Internal Auditor, IT Auditor or Data Analytics consultant

  • Strong technical skills in internal audit, and a thorough understanding of a range of strategic, financial and operational process risks and controls

  • High level of attention to detail and the proven ability to facilitate the timely and effective execution of Internal Audits

  • Sound knowledge of Risk management, internal control principles and assurance

  • An ability to lead and operate autonomously

  • Strong ability to analyse information quickly using innovative solutions and to solve complex problems

  • Experience in developing constructive and practical recommendations to improve processes, controls and reduce risks

  • Communication and influencing skills must be a key strength, as your ability to engage and build relationships with executives and staff will be critical to your success

  • Proven experience of reporting and presenting to senior management

If you meet some of these requirements, but not all, we encourage you to submit your application.

With a career at Transurban, you'll enjoy a range of benefits, including:

  • A range of flexible working options

  • Learning and development opportunities to support your career interests

  • Health and wellbeing support—access to Headspace and our EAP program, wellness facilities, and more

  • Social activities and groups

We offer a range of flexible working and leave options, so you can balance your work and life commitments and interests. Have a conversation with us about how this could work for you.

We embrace diversity with a foundation of safety, wellbeing and inclusion; where everyone belongs. We treat everyone with fairness, consideration and respect, regardless of gender, gender identity, marital or family status, sexual orientation, age, ethnicity, religious beliefs, cultural or socio-economic background, perspective, and experience – whether they work for us or not.
