About the Role

This role offers the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to the University of Newcastle's mission of delivering excellence in education, research, and professional service in the field of Aboriginal Education. Working within the Wollotuka Institute, you will play a vital part in advancing strategic priorities and delivering high-quality outcomes that support students, staff, and the broader community.

Indigenous Identified Role:

This is an identified position and applicants must be an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person. Being an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person is a genuine occupational qualification as authorised under Section 14(D) of the NSW Anti-Discrimination Act, 1977 NSW.

About you

You are dedicated and forward-thinking with experience working in educational setting and a strong understanding of Aboriginal pedagogies. You are culturally grounded, have a strong connection with community and a passion for advancing knowledge and practice in your field.

You thrive in collaborative settings and are committed to fostering an inclusive and equitable learning and research environment. You value diverse perspectives and actively contribute to a culture that supports mutual respect, innovation, and continuous improvement.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Completed a PhD or Masters qualification in a relevant field and/or have relevant professional practice experience in Aboriginal education settings
  • Demonstrated recent ability to achieve teaching quality
  • Demonstrated record of publication or non-traditional research output in high-quality outlets
  • Demonstrated recent ability to contribute to the preparation, coordination and curriculum design (where appropriate) of undergraduate, honours and postgraduate courses
