About the opportunity
Are you an experienced neonatal nurse interested in clinical research?
Do you have a desire to improve outcomes for the sick and preterm babies you care for?
This is an exciting opportunity for a neonatal nurse to join the Mercy Hospital/University of Melbourne Neonatal research team. The position involves working closely alongside the new Director of Newborn Research at the Mercy Hospital for Women, Prof. Brett Manley, and a dedicated and enthusiastic team of doctors, nurses and allied health professionals undertaking clinical research.
You will be responsible for:

Seeking consent from families for their newborn infant to participate in clinical trials
Close collaboration with onsite and offsite (interstate or international) trial leads and multidisciplinary teams
Undertaking randomisation
Maintaining screening logs
Accurate and complete data entry and data management
Working across more than one clinical trial at a time, and assisting with additional studies as required, with flexibility
All must be in keeping with Good Clinical Practice. Some experience with clinical research desirable, but not mandatory.
What you'll bring
You are resilient, able to multitask, friendly, and compassionate.
You have an eye for detail.
You are committed to delivering exceptional patient-centred care and research.
To thrive in this role, you will have:
Registered nurse/midwife with minimum 2 years postgraduate NICU experience and current APRHA registration
Exceptional communication skills to enable recruitment to research studies, and to explain the purpose of the research confidently to families
Excellent organisational and team working skills, with the ability to work independently
A basic understanding of Good Clinical Practice and clinical research
Highly developed computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel & Outlook: essential) as well as with REDCap database (desirable) and/or other research databases or interfaces (desirable)
You will also be required to provide evidence of, or in the process of obtaining:
Current Good Clinical Practice (GCP) certification or commitment to attainment within three months of commencing role (essential).
A current Police Record Check and Working with Children Check.
Proof of current influenza vaccination and other vaccination status consistent with public health orders.
