Overview:

We are
seeking an experienced Cloudflare WAF (Web Application Firewall) Migration
Specialist to manage and execute the migration of our web application firewall
(WAF) from Existing to Cloudflare. This role will focus on ensuring a smooth
transition with minimal disruption to our applications, security protocols, and
traffic management. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in
Cloudflare platforms, with a deep understanding of WAF functionality, security
protocols, and the configuration of CDN and DNS services.

Key
Responsibilities:

  1. Planning & Strategy:
  1. Collaborate with internal
    stakeholders (security, IT, DevOps, engineering teams) to define the
    scope, timelines, and objectives for the WAF migration.
  2. Assess current WAF configurations
    and translate them into Cloudflare configurations, ensuring compatibility
    with existing security policies and business requirements.
  3. Document the migration strategy,
    including risk assessments, fallback procedures, and testing protocols.
  1. Migration Execution:
  1. Responsible for the
    implementation of the Cloudflare WAF, ensuring a seamless transition.
  2. Configure Cloudflare WAF
    settings, including WAF rules, security features (e.g., bot management,
    rate limiting),CDN, DDOS and custom configurations based on existing
    security protocols.
  3. Migrate DNS records, traffic
    management policies, and SSL configurations to Cloudflare.
  4. Ensure proper routing of traffic
    to avoid downtime or disruptions during migration.
  1. Testing & Validation:
  1. Conduct extensive testing of the
    Cloudflare WAF configurations before and after migration to ensure
    security protocols are functioning as intended.
  2. Verify the effectiveness of
    Cloudflare's security features, such as bot mitigation, DDoS protection,
    and rule matching.
  3. Work with QA and development
    teams to validate application performance and security post-migration.
  1. Troubleshooting & Optimization:
  1. Identify and resolve any
    technical issues that arise during the migration process.
  2. Monitor the performance of
    Cloudflare WAF post-migration, identifying and addressing any potential
    bottlenecks or misconfigurations.
  3. Optimize Cloudflare security
    rules and policies to improve both security and performance.
  1. Documentation & Reporting:
  1. Maintain comprehensive
    documentation of migration processes, configurations, and results.
  2. Create a knowledge base for
    future reference and handover to internal teams for ongoing management of
    Cloudflare WAF.
  3. Provide regular updates to
    stakeholders on the progress, challenges, and results of the migration.
  1. Collaboration & Communication:
  1. Coordinate with network
    engineers, security specialists, and DevOps teams to ensure
    cross-functional collaboration.
  2. Ensure clear communication of
    migration timelines, risks, and outcomes with senior leadership and
    technical teams.

Required
Skills & Qualifications:

Experience:
Proven experience in Cloudflare
WAF Implementation projects, specifically migration from existing WAF to
Cloudflare.
Strong expertise in Cloudflare
platforms, with hands-on experience configuring and managing WAF, CDN,
DNS, and security settings.
In-depth understanding of web
security principles, DDoS protection, bot mitigation, SSL/TLS, and
application layer protection.
Technical Skills:
Strong knowledge of Cloudflare's
security features (e.g., WAF, rate limiting, bot management, firewall
rules, IP reputation).
Familiarity with WAF
configurations and security settings.
Proficiency with DNS management
and SSL/TLS configuration.
Hands-on experience with
troubleshooting and resolving performance and security-related issues in
a cloud environment.
Tools & Technologies:
Cloudflare WAF and security
tools.
WAF configuration of CI\CD
pipelines and tools.
Experience with CDN (Content
Delivery Network) configurations and DNS management tools.
Soft Skills:
Strong problem-solving and
troubleshooting abilities.
Excellent communication and
documentation skills.
Ability to work independently and
within a collaborative team environment.
Attention to detail and a
proactive approach to risk management.

Preferred
Qualifications:

Trained and Certified on
Cloudflare WAF Platform
Experience in Implementing
Cloudflare WAF, CDN, DDOS, Bot Management etc.
Experience with DevOps tools,
CI/CD pipelines, and application deployment processes.
Good to have work experience in
cloud environments such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
