Ventia is proud to play a key role in the North East Link Project, a landmark Public-Private Partnership (PPP) that will reshape Melbourne's transport future. With a 25-year contract to deliver operations, maintenance, and asset management services. We are providing an opportunity to be part of a highly functional team, building operational solutions.

Ventia's North East Link project is seeking an experienced Operations Supervisor to join the team during the pre-operational phase. In this role, you will collaborate closely with design and construction teams to provide guidance on assets such as ITS, OMCS, and operational processes.

You will lead the mobilisation and training of the control room team, develop operational processes, and foster a strong safety and performance culture to ensure readiness for incident management and operations.

This is a permanent full-time position, with an attractive salary on offer.  The role is based in Abbotsford during construction and then relocating to the future Motorway Control Centre (MCC) in Bulleen.

Duties (Pre-Operations):

  • Mobilise and prepare a team of control room operators, including recruitment, rostering, and induction.
  • Lead training programs on operational systems, including OMCS, S2Si, and associated ITS equipment.
  • Develop and embed operational processes, procedures, and workflows to ensure readiness for the transition to Operations and Maintenance phase.
  • Coordinate with engineering, construction, and asset teams to understand operational handover requirements, critical system interfaces and testing and commissioning.
  • Establish performance frameworks, KPIs, and reporting mechanisms to monitor the control room, OMCS, incident response, plant alarms, and life-saving systems.

Duties (Operations Phase):

  • Lead the ongoing operation of the North East Link control room, managing operational staff, plant alarms, and life-saving systems.
  • Monitor and drive performance against operational KPIs, including incident notification, arrival, and clearance times.
  • Oversee system use and technical processes, ensuring operational systems support safe and efficient motorway operations.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying better ways of working and embedding lessons learned into operational practice.
  • Be the technical expert for operational decision-making, advising on complex or high-risk incidents and system management.

About You

  • Proven experience in managing control room or traffic operations teams in critical infrastructure environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, develop, and sustain high-performing teams under operational and business pressures.
  • Strong knowledge of motorway systems, operational processes, and emergency response protocols.
  • Skilled in stakeholder engagement, cross-functional coordination, and reporting on operational performance.
  • Tertiary qualifications in engineering, transport, or a related field will be highly regarded.
  • Certification or training in tunnel operations, traffic management, or emergency response will be highly regarded.
