The Opportunity 

We're scaling our Product & Engineering organisation and expanding our Sydney engineering hub — and we're looking for Senior Full Stack Engineers who want to build, ship, and shape a global SaaS product used and loved by leading law firms around the world. 
In this role, you'll work across the stack to deliver high-impact product experiences in a cross-functional squad (AI, Legal, Marketing, or Business Development). You'll collaborate closely with Product, Design, and Data, own solutions end-to-end, and contribute to the evolution of Nexl's architecture, engineering practices, and overall velocity. 
We're looking for engineers who combine strong technical depth with a strategic and growth mindset. People who continuously raise the bar, embrace AI in their workflow, and bring both autonomy and collaboration to the way they work will do exceptionally well here.
This role is open to candidates based in Sydney, as we're building greater team density around our primary engineering hub. 
Requirements

Must haves:
  • Significant hands-on experience building and shipping full-stack applications at scale 
  • Strong proficiency in React + TypeScript 
  • Strong proficiency in Ruby on Rails or Python on the backend 
  • Solid understanding of database design and optimization (PostgreSQL, MongoDB) including indexing, query optimization, and data modeling 
  • Experience working in high-growth SaaS or technology companies 
  • Ability to take ownership, operate autonomously, and drive outcomes 
  • Comfortable designing solutions for ambiguous or complex problems 
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills across engineering, product, and design 
  • Understands security best practices and writes secure code (authentication, authorization, data protection) 
  • Focus on performance and observability, can debug production issues and implement monitoring/alerting 
  • Commitment to quality — testing, code reviews, documentation, and continuous improvement 
  • Growth mindset and a desire to continually raise the bar 
  • Fluency using AI tools as part of day-to-day engineering workflows 
Nice to haves:
  • Experience in multi-tenant, data-heavy applications 
  • Experience with GraphQL, gRPC, or real-time communication protocols (WebSockets) 
  • Exposure to AI/LLM application development 
  • Experience working in cross-functional squads 
  • Exposure to Mobile Development, or React Native 
  • Familiarity with Marketing Tech, CRM-like systems, or workflow automation products 
  • Experience in LegalTech or Professional Services tech 
  • Knowledge of DevOps practices, Infrastructure as Code or cloud infrastructure (AWS or Azure) 
  • Experience mentoring engineers or influencing engineering culture 
  • Experience in early-stage or scale-up environments
