What you'll do

  • Lead and manage the staffing and administrative aspects of the branch office, ensuring that effective and efficient processes are implemented to support branch operations.
  • Provide the branch executive with a wide range of expert strategic, tactical and operational advice, analysis and support to enable effective strategic decision-making and risk minimisation through maintaining an intimate knowledge of current and emerging issues and priorities impacting on the branch.
  • Support the branch executive to provide operational leadership and direction to branch staff through fostering and encouraging a workplace that is outcome focussed, and instils a culture of customer service, responsiveness and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure that significant issues or events, often of a confidential and sensitive political nature, are managed effectively, determining the extent to which matters should be escalated and collaborating with the most appropriate groups and resources internal and external to achieve required outcomes.
  • Manage and facilitate branch responses to complex and sensitive requests from the other executive offices, and the offices of the Chief Executive and Director-General and ensure resolution of issues to completion.
  • Liaise, negotiate, advise and assist executives, senior leaders and branch staff in the coordination, planning, delivery, monitoring and reporting of budget, financial management practices, procurement activities, human resource management and other business matters.

About you

We are searching for someone who has:

  • Advanced interpersonal, communication, negotiation, problem solving, consultation and collaboration skills incorporating the ability to work effectively with personnel at all levels, including the ability to identify issues and risks and work collaboratively to develop solutions.
  • Demonstrated high level organisational, time management written and oral communications skills, including the abilityto compile complex reports, briefs, correspondence and submissions on behalf of the Branch.
  • Demonstrated high level skills and extensive knowledge of financial management processes utilised within a publicsector organisation.
  • Demonstrated high level expertise in the use of information technology and financial systems, together with experiencein the research, review, interpretation and analysis of information to formulate recommendations and reports to
  • management.
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise and lead a business team and manage staff in line with quality human resource management practices including employment equity, anti-discrimination, occupational health and safety, and ethical behaviour.
